We wanted to share a fun way to incorporate a kids play area into your home's living space! A lot of times kids toys tend to take over your home but it doesn't have to be that way with creative storage and a color palette that flows through the entire space.
Our current home has a huge living room with amazing windows that let in gorgeous sunlight! When we moved in we immediately ripped out the old carpet, took down the dated curtains, and painted the fireplace white. We struggled to figure out how to best utilize the space including how to arrange the couches and where to put the TV (above the fireplace or on the wall was heavily debated). We ended up sort of cornering off the "living"/TV watching space and the TV ended up on the wall which we ended up really loving because now the mantel and fireplace are a focal point of the room without a big black whole above it.
We coordinated the TV stand to match the play area furniture so it all felt like it was meant to be in the same room. The cute bookshelf stores all of our baby books and diaper changing supplies. We plan on converting it to an art supplies station once she's older. The toy bins are amazing, low enough for kids to pull everything out but adding baskets creates an illusion of organization because in reality everything is just tossed into the baskets! So easy! Because we have hardwood floors throughout our home, finding a rug for the play area was a must! We searched everywhere for an affordable, fun rug that coordinated with the rest of the living room. Eventually we'll add a play kitchen to this space but we couldn't help but buy the mcm table and chairs, they were too cute beneath this window!
